Garth Brooks took the stage at State Farm Stadium Saturday wearing a Larry Fitzgerald Cardinals jersey.
Midway through the show, Fitzgerald joined the country superstar on stage to present the singer with a?special Cardinals jersey of his own for having drawn the largest crowd the stadium has?ever seen.
The name on the jersey? Brooks. The Number? 1.
The Brooks concert sold?77,653?tickets, enough to also set an Arizona record for any single-night event.
After hugging it out, Brooks gave a heartfelt speech about appreciating the treasures in your own backyard and said Fitzgerald was "possibly?the greatest human being I have ever met in my life."
As the crowd chanted "Larry," Brooks added, "I'm wearing the jersey I want to wear tonight for sure. Not a statement of humbleness at all but a statement of honesty. Always hang around people that make you want to be a better person."
He concluded his praise of Fitzgerald with "I love you, Larry. This guy does amazing things for everybody. I'm so lucky to know him."
Then, he said, "Oh my gosh, how do you follow Larry Fitzgerald, right? I'll tell you what, you'd gotta bring the best thing you got."??
And with that, the stage was set for "Callin' Baton Rouge," a hit from 1994's "In Pieces."
